Oxnard College


Oxnard College, also referred to as OC, is a coeducational, community college located in Oxnard, California, United States. It was established in 1975. The College spreads across a 118-acre campus near College Park in Oxnard. The College grants admission to approximately 6,500 students annually.

The academic departments of Oxnard College include:

The College's sports teams are called the Condors. The official mascot is the Condor. Students compete in baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, and volleyball. The College has a fully equipped gymnasium and a state-of-the-art fitness center to help students keep in shape throughout the year.

All qualified applicants are admitted as Oxnard College offers open admission.

The most common major fields study at the school include family and social work and liberal arts.

Culinary Arts/Restaurant Management

You can obtain a Culinary Arts or Restaurant Management Certificate in as little as three semesters or go for your Associate Degree.

The hospitality industry is one of the fastest growing industries and is the second largest employer in the country, second only to the United Sates Government!

Its experienced and talented instructors provide hands-on training in our fully equipped kitchen and Gourmet Restaurant. Laboratory time is combined with classroom lectures to fast track you into employment in the field.

The employment future is bright for Oxnard College Culinary/Restaurant students. Many prospective employers contact the program with job opportunities for our students that allow you to work while attending classes. Some students on placed on the fast track for promotion by their employers, as they complete the program. Need money to attend? The Culinary/Restaurant Department has developed a voucher/loan program as well as a number of scholarships for both first and second year students. Additional scholarships through the industry are also available.

Culinary Arts

The Culinary Arts program prepares students for entry-level positions as a culinarian, bakers, or foodservice manager trainee. In these positions, employees are required to prepare menus, requisition supplies, supervise equipment, maintain varied records, and coordinate data with accountants and others in the organization.

Restaurant Management

The Restaurant Management Program prepares students to obtain employment in the restaurant management field as food service unit managers, multi-unit managers, corporate executives, or corporate trainers.

Oxnard College offers a Certificate of Achievement and Associate in Science Degree in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management. In addition, students may wish to work toward certification from the American Culinary Federation Educational Institute (ACFEI) by taking additional course work.
